Mickey Rooney and his Combo provided the music for Hot Rods to Hell. The band was formed around two childhood friends, Mickey Rooney Jr. and Carmine Sardo. Friends since grade school, they started to play together in High School and eventually formed the band that would record three songs, "It Certainly Ain't a Nice Thing", "I'll Be There" and "The Choice is Yours". It is said that Mickey Rooney Jr. made up the "Chicken Walk" song on the spot when meeting with the MGM studio executives prior to filming the movie.

All of the band members are still alive and well, Mickey Rooney Jr. lives in Helmet California and still performs occasionally. Carmine Sardo went on to become a part time studio musician and keeps his musical skills sharp by playing in local LA bands occasionally. Unfortunately, John Blanchard is in a CA State prison, serving time for murder. There is not much information on Russell Haney to speak of.

MGM never released a soundtrack album for Hot Rods to Hell. I have been actively trying to track the master tapes of the music (if they still exist). My goal is to find it and release it on CD. More to come....I hope!
